The spirit of Morocco
Recognisable by its cylindrical shape and pom-pom, the tarbouch spread beyond the borders of the Mediterranean basin before establishing a special place for itself in Morocco. Its modern form became widely popular in the 19th century and gradually became part of Moroccan men’s attire, particularly in towns and cities and on formal occasions.
Its history also has a special connection with Fez, whose name gave rise to the term ‘fez’ used in several languages to refer to this type of headwear. The city was historically associated with its manufacture and trade.
Over time, its everyday use has become less common, but its silhouette remains familiar and continues to feature in certain traditional Moroccan outfits and ceremonies.
In this gift set, the tarbouch leaves the head to become a case. A historic shape is thus elegantly repurposed to house two fragrances and continue its story in a new form.
